DevTalks Bucharest 2017 review

Dev<Talks/> Bucharest 2017

Dev<Talks/> brings together great community leaders and innovation, this year’s stages featured: Web & Mobile, BigData & Cloud, DevOps, Java, Project Management, smart devices, machine learning, AI and a variety of workshops. This is the 4th edition of Dev<Talks/> Bucharest and it took place in the Romexpo exhibition complex.

It started early in the morning, around 9 AM. First I had to register and then get the badge and the agenda for the day (the online version of the agenda: http://www.devtalks.ro/bucharest/agenda/):

As I was saying, it was early in the morning and the place was pretty quiet:

The agitation began with the opening of the stages. With pretty good timing and with the help of the agenda (it also contained a map) you could have enjoyed all the presentations you desired. The presentations consisted in introductory material and recipes for real-life situations, new approaches in software development and highlighting the changes for this year. I oscillated between Web & Mobile, BigData & Cloud and DevOps stages, here are some presentations that I attended:
  • Design + Development = Love - "Alex will talk about best practices to improve the relationship between Development and Design, from an iX perspective."

  • Implementing a next-generation data pipeline in eMAG - "eMAG Business Intelligence teams process billions of events daily, and behind each one, there is a client account with prices, products, quantities, delivery times and many more. The presentation aims to reveal the technologies we work with and how we use them to extract and process the events that the users generate when interacting with our platform. We will share our knowledge of Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Cassandra, how we use them, what lessons and successes we had in our journey and what path we plan to take in the future, in order to obtain relevant information on which human intelligence can make decisions and artificial ones can be trained to take over."
  • Event streaming and processing - "Event stream processing, or ESP, is a set of technologies designed to assist the construction of event-driven information systems. ESP technologies include event visualization, event databases, event-driven middleware, and event processing languages, or complex event processing (CEP)."
  • Learn TypeScript!
  • etc.
In between the presentations you could have enjoyed the surprises from the event's partners at:
  • partners stands
  • Gadgets area:

  • eMAGpit stop:

The reasons why you should attend this event in the future are:
  • to be up to date with the latest technology trends;
  • to identify some solutions which can be used in companies;
  • for networking;
  • for the line-up of speakers;
  • for the topics approached.
Enjoy (ง°ل͜°)ง
